These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and belizelaw.ai (“belizelaw.ai”, “we”, “us”) governing your access to and use of the belizelaw.ai website and services (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
belizelaw.ai is a research and information tool that uses artificial intelligence to help you find and understand the laws of Belize — including the Substantive Laws of Belize, subsidiary legislation, and published case law — and to generate plain-language or professional summaries with citations to source materials.
2. Not Legal Advice; No Attorney-Client Relationship
The Service provides legal information, not legal advice. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney licensed to practise in Belize. Using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and belizelaw.ai. The information provided may be incomplete, out of date, or not applicable to your particular circumstances. You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of the Service without first seeking advice from a qualified attorney and verifying the underlying law.
3. AI-Generated Content and Accuracy
Answers are generated by artificial intelligence from a corpus of Belize legal materials. Although the Service is designed to ground its answers in cited source materials, AI systems can produce errors, omissions, or content that appears authoritative but is incorrect. Citations, statutory references, and case references may be inaccurate and must be independently verified against the official primary sources before you rely on them. The law of Belize is authoritative in English; any translation is provided for convenience only. You are solely responsible for how you use any output.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
5. Accounts
Some features require an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of your registration information, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use. You may not share your account or use it on behalf of others without our consent.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract content, or use automated means to access the Service beyond ordinary use;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service or its output as your own;
- attempt to reverse engineer, interfere with, overload, or circumvent the security, usage limits, or access controls of the Service;
- rely on the Service as the sole basis for any legal, financial, or other significant decision without independent professional verification.
7. Subscriptions, Billing & Refunds
The Service offers a free tier and paid tiers (Plus and Pro). Prices are shown on our pricing page and are stated in Belize dollars unless indicated otherwise. Paid subscriptions are billed through our third-party payment processor; we do not store your full payment-card details. Except where required by applicable law, fees are non-refundable and paid amounts are not pro-rated on cancellation. You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period. We may change prices or plan features on reasonable notice.
8. Intellectual Property
The laws, legislation, and judgments referenced by the Service are public materials of Belize. The Service itself — including its software, design, compilation and organisation of materials, and generated presentations — is owned by belizelaw.ai or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You retain ownership of the questions and content you submit, and grant us a licence to process them to operate and improve the Service. Subject to these Terms, you may use output for your personal or internal professional purposes.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers (including AI, search, hosting, analytics, email, and payment providers) as described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of the Service may be subject to those providers’ terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY INFORMATION OR OUTPUT IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR RELIABLE.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, belizelaw.ai AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, OR FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON ANY OUTPUT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (b) BZ$100. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless belizelaw.ai and its owners, officers, and employees from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct we reasonably believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
14. Changes
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Belize, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Belize for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.
16. General
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
