Effect of payment of compensation

Where any person injured by the commission of a summary conviction offence accepts compensation for the injury under the order of a court, the acceptance of that compensation shall be a bar to any action for the same injury but, subject to the provisions of this section, no conviction shall otherwise affect the right of action of any person for damages arising from any injury to his person or property caused by the commission of a summary conviction offence.
