Award of compensation to person injured

The court may, in its discretion, on the application of the complainant, adjudge any person convicted before it of a summary conviction offence to make compensation, not exceeding one thousand dollars, to any person injured by the commission of the offence, and any compensation so awarded shall be regarded and dealt with in all respects as if it were recovered on a judgment of a district court under the District Courts (Procedure) Act, Cap. 97.
