Writ of habeas corpus ad testificandum

The Court or a judge may award a writ of habeas corpus ad testificandum for bringing up any prisoner detained in any gaol or prison before any court, judge, justice or other judicature, or before any arbitrator or referee, or before any arbitrator or umpire appointed under the Arbitration Act or any other Act, for examination as a witness in any cause or matter, civil or criminal, whatever, which now is, or hereafter may be, depending or to be inquired or determined in or before such court, judge, justice or other judicature, referee, arbitrator or umpire.
