Belmopan City Council (Control Of Refuse) Bylaws, r. 6 · Revised Edition 2020
(1) The owner or occupier of any premises in the City of Belmopan who deposits any of the materials specified in Schedule I of these Bylaws, or of a like nature except on the days and times scheduled for their collection shall within 48 hours of such depositing remove such materials to an approved disposal site under the control of the Council at his own expense.
(2) Where it has been brought to the attention of the Council that any material mentioned in Schedule I has been deposited in front of any premises, the Council shall in writing, in the form prescribed in Schedule II, require the occupier of the premises concerned to remove the material as required by sub-bylaw (1) within a period of twenty-four hours.
(3) If the occupier fails or neglects to carry out the direction of the Council as given herein, the Council shall have the power to remove such material and require the occupier to pay within seven days such amount determined as reasonably by the Council for the cost of the removal as may be embodied in a legal notice as in the form of Schedule II under the hand of the City Administrator or any other authorized officer. If the occupier fails to make good the amount so determined by the Council within the time allowed, then the Council may recover the amount in a court of competent jurisdiction.
(4) A legal notice in the form prescribed in Schedule II signed by the City Administrator or any authorized officer stating the cost of removal, shall be prima facie evidence of the cost incurred by the Council in removing the material so deposited by the occupier.
