Penalty for stamping after due time

(1) The Commissioners shall stamp with an impressed stamp any instrument after the time when it ought to have been stamped on payment of the unpaid duty and of the proper (2) The proper penalty shall be the sum of five dollars for the first week or part of a week, and the sum of ten dollars for each week or part of a week after the first week, which has elapsed since the time when the instrument could have been stamped without the payment of a penalty, with the maximum of fifty-five dollars. (3) The payment of a penalty payable on stamping shall be denoted on the instrument by the Commissioners. (4) The Minister may, if he thinks fit, mitigate or remit a penalty payable on stamping.
