Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requiresAgreement” means the Concession Agreement dated 29th July, 1998 between the Government of Belize and Hydro Maya Limited, including any further amendments thereto; “Commercial Operation Date” means 8th March, 2007; “Minister” means the Minister responsible for finance; “Producer” means the Hydro Maya Limited, a company incorporated under the laws of Belize and its successors and permitted assigns; and “Project” means the electrical energy generating power plant, owned, operated and maintained by the Producer, located approximately 3 kilometers north of San Miguel Village on the Rio Grande River, Toledo District together with approximately 11.5 kilometers of transmission line and 5 kilometers of access road including but not limited to all associated land, structures, facilities, and all infrastructure for or connected with the operation of the project.
