Conditions for maternity allowance

Maternity allowance shall only be payable to an insured woman if– (a) not less than fifty contributions have been paid in respect of her since the appointed day; and (b) in the period of thirty–nine consecutive contribution weeks immediately preceding Social Security 65 the sixth week before the expected date of confinement, or in which occurs the day from which benefit is claimed, whichever is the later, not less than twenty–five contributions have been paid in respect of or credited to her of which not less than twenty have been paid.
