Minimum size of floor joists for dwelling housesclear span not exceeding 6 ft. 2 in. x 4 in. spaced not over 2 ft. 3 in. centres; clear span not exceeding 9 ft. 2 in. x 6 in. spaced not over 2 ft. 3 in. centres; clear span not exceeding 14 ft. 2 in. x 8 in. spaced not over 2 ft. 3 in. centres; clear span not exceeding 18 ft. 2 in. x 10 in. spaced not over 2 ft. 3 in. centres. In buildings to be used for public purposes - dance hall - joists shall be spaced at not over 1 ft. 9 in. centres.
