Term of office of members

(1) Every member, other than a member referred to in sub- section (2), shall, unless his office becomes vacant earlier by death, resignation, transfer, retirement or removal, hold office for a period not exceeding three years. (2) Every member who becomes such a member by virtue of his post or by virtue of being the nominee of any institution or association shall hold office as long as he holds that post or represents that institution or association. (3) The periods of appointment of the members of the Board who are not ex-officio members may be staggered, with one third of their number being initially appointed for periods of one, two and three years respectively.
