Penalty for contravention of sections 59, 60 or 61

(1) Every parent who, (a) fails to comply with the requirements of a School Attendance Order made under section 60 of this Act; or (b) fails to take effective measures to ensure the regular attendance of his child, as required by sections 59 and 61 of the Act. commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars. (2) Proceedings under subsection (1) of this section, may be instituted by the Chief Education Officer or an officer duly Education and Training [CAP. 36.0155 authorized by him, or by the officer with responsibility for truancy management, or by the Managing Authority of a school, or by the Principal of the school concerned.
