Export, import and transit of radioactive sources

(1) The Office shall develop regulatory requirements and procedures for the licensing of the export, import and transit of radioactive sources from, to or through the territory of Belize. (2) The procedures established under sub-section (1) shall provide for an evaluation of information to ensure that a recipient is licensed to receive the requested source and has the capacity to ensure its safety and security. (3) For applications to export high level category sources as prescribed by regulations, the Office shall satisfy itself, insofar as practicable, that the importing State has the appropriate technical and administrative capability, resources and regulatory structure for the safe and secure management of the requested sources.
