Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, “Council” means the Medical Council of Belize established under section 3 of the Medical Practitioners Registration Act, Cap. 318; “Council for Human and Social Development” means the organ of the CARICOM Community empowered by Article 35 of the Treaty of Chaguaramas establishing the Caribbean Community including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy in establishing common standards and measures for accreditation or mutual recognition of diplomas, certification and other evidence of qualification of nationals of CARICOM Member States. “optometry” or “the practice of optometry” means the employment of any methods for the estimation of errors of refraction of the human eye, and the prescribing or adapting of lenses to correct such errors; “Register” means the “Opticians’ Register” kept under section 4 of this Act; 5 “Registrar” means the Registrar General.
