Specific powers and duties of the Board

(1) The principal duty of the Board shall be to ensure the proper and efficient performance of the functions and key issues of the Service, such as, (a) appointing the Chief Librarian, and acting in consultation with the Chief Librarian in appointing other stall; (b) incurring such expenditure within the limits of its funds as may be considered necessary and expedient for the efficient performance of the duties imposed by this Act; (c) performing such other duties as the Minister may, at the request of the Board, confer on (2) The Board shall submit to the Minister each year through the Chairperson, a report of the working of the Service for the previous year.
