Mode of giving effect to exemption from contributions to political fund

Effect may be given to the exemption of members to contribute to the political fund of a union either by a separate levy of contributions to that fund from the members of the union who are not exempt, and in that case the rules shall provide that no moneys of the union other than the amount raised by such separate levy shall be carried to that fund, or by relieving any members who are exempt from the payment of the whole or any part of any periodical contributions required from the members of the union towards the expenses of the union, and in that case the rules shall provide that the relief shall be given as far as possible to all members who are exempt on the occasion of the same periodical payment and for 29 enabling each member of the union to know as respects any such periodical contributions, what portion, if any, of the sum payable by him is a contribution to the political fund of the 30 SCHEDULE 1 TRADE UNIONS ACT Rules of Trade Unions Registered Under This Act [Section 17(a)] 1. The name of the trade union and place of meeting for its business. 2. The whole of the objects for which the trade union is to be established, the purposes for which its funds shall be applicable, and the conditions under which any member may become entitled to any benefit assured thereby, and the fines and forfeitures to be imposed on any member of the trade union. 3. The manner of making, altering, amending and rescinding rules. 4. A provision for the appointment and removal of a general committee of management, of a trustee or trustees, treasurer, and other officers. 5. A provision for the investment of the funds, and for an annual or periodical audit of accounts. 6. The inspection of the books and names of members of the trade union by every person having an interest in its funds. 7. The manner of dissolution.
