Legality of National Reference Standard units

(1) For the purposes of this Act, the Minister shall procure and cause to be maintained National Reference Standards and from time to time such standards of other units of measurement as may be considered by him necessary. (2) Every standard of any unit of measurement procured under subsection (1) of this section, shall be the equivalent of a unit of measurement defined in the First Schedule of in Part II of the Third Schedule or any multiple or submultiple of any such unit of measurement, and shall be made of such materials and in such manner as to be, as far as practicable, proof against mechanical and atmospheric agencies and other sources of error.
