Individual clients

(1) A prospective client shall provide his true name and permanent address and whenever possible, his date of birth shall be sought and recorded; and it will usually be appropriate to verify this information by reference to a national identity card, passport or other similar identification document, a copy of which should be retained. (2) IFS Practitioners shall take particular care to obtain adequate documentary evidence of identity in any case where prospective clients deal with them by mail or otherwise.
