Deposits in name of infant under seven
Savings Bank Rules, r. 28 · Revised Edition 2020
In respect of deposits made by any person in the name and on behalf of an infant under the age of seven years, such deposit with the interest that may have accrued thereon will be repayable to the parent or guardian, but not until such infant shall have attained the age of seven years; but in the event of death before the age of seven years, the money shall be payable to the person depositing the same. The Minister may, however,
in his discretion, direct payments to be made on behalf of any infant before the child attains the age of seven years, on being fully satisfied that such money is necessary for the maintenance and wellbeing of such infant. Any such payment shall constitute a full discharge of all liability in connection with any such deposit, and shall have the same effect as if the withdrawal had been made in accordance with the terms on which the deposit was made.
