Interest

(1) The maximum rate of interest a moneylender may charge is forty-eight percent per annum or the corresponding rate of interest in respect of any other period. Moneylenders 9 (2) The interest charged on the loan is to be– (a) simple interest; and (b) charged on the monthly balance of principal remaining after deducting from the original principal the total amount of principal repaid to date.
