Rights conferred by registration

(1) The exploitation of a registered industrial design in Belize by persons other than the registered owner shall require the written authorisation of the latter. (2) The owner of a registered design shall, subject to the provisions of this Act, and to any rights appearing from the Register to be vested in any other person, have the exclusive right, in Belize, to make, sell, import or otherwise distribute, for commercial purposes, any article bearing or embodying the (3) For the purposes of this section, “exploitation” of a registered design means the doing of any act specified in subsection (2) of this section. (4) The rights conferred by the registration of a design shall not extend to acts in respect of articles which have been put on the market in Belize by the registered owner or with his consent.
