United Nations Conventions

(1) Where Belize ratifies a United Nations Convention, such Convention shall be submitted to the National Assembly within thirty days of its ratification and the National Assembly may pass a law to give effect to it or, where appropriate, the Minister may immediately by Order published in the Gazette as a statutory instrument, make such provisions as appear to him necessary or expedient for giving effect to such Convention within Belize, and every such Order shall have effect notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any other rule, regulation or instrument. (2) Every Order made under this section shall be submitted to the National Assembly within thirty days of the making thereof and shall be subject to negative resolution.
