Hearing Standard No. 2

The applicant must be able, using both ears simultaneously and standing with his back to the examiner, to hear accurately and readily conversation carried on by the examiner in normal tones at a distance of 8 feet from him in a room in which the intensity of the background noise does not exceed 50 decibels.
