Warning instruments

(1) Every motor vehicle shall be fitted with an instrument capable of giving audible and sufficient warning of its approach or position, provided that no such instrument shall consist of a siren, gong or bell, except in the case of a motor vehicle used solely for fire brigade, ambulance or law enforcement. (2) Every horn or instrument used for the purpose authorised shall either be of a kind which has been approved by the Department of Transport generally as proper to be used on motor vehicles or which has been approved by the Department in a special case on the application of the owner of the motor (3) Any horn or other instrument which has been approved by the Department for use on motor vehicles shall not be used on any other class of vehicles. 102
