Maintenance of vehicles and loads so as not to be a danger

(1) Every motor vehicle and every trailer drawn thereby and all parts and accessories of such vehicle and trailer shall at all times be in such condition, and the weight, packing and adjustment of the load, of such vehicle or trailer shall at all times be such that no danger is caused or is likely to be caused to any person on the vehicle or trailer or on a road. (2) The load carried by any motor vehicle or trailer shall be so secured that danger is not likely to be caused to any person on a road by reason of the load or any part thereof falling from the vehicle. (3) No motor vehicle or trailer shall be used for any purpose for which it is so unsuitable as to cause or be likely to cause danger to any person on the vehicle or trailer or on a road. Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic [CAP. 230 125 (4) No luggage or goods shall be carried on a motor vehicle other than within the body of the vehicle or upon a suitable carrier attached to the rear or roof of the vehicle. (5) Every motor vehicle and every trailer shall, when carrying logs, be fitted with at least three chains of links of not less than in ½'' cross-sectional diameter and such chains shall be tightly bound, at approximately equal distances apart, around the logs and platform of the motor vehicle together, or the logs and body of the trailer together, as the case may be, and shall be secured to such motor vehicle or trailer by proper load binders of a type approved by the Department of Transport. (6) Every motor vehicle and every trailer shall when carrying sand, stone, gravel, debris, or like material on a road, be fitted with a tarpaulin or similar covering, and the driver as well as the owner of every such vehicle or trailer shall securely cover all material as aforesaid by tarpaulin or other suitable covering and shall ensure that no such material falls from the said vehicle while on a road.
