Power of Authority to prevent or control pollution

Where it appears to the Authority that any poisonous, noxious or polluting matter has entered or is likely to enter in any waters, the Authority may carry out such operations as it considers appropriate to prevent the matter from entering the water, or to remove or dispose of the matter and to remedy or mitigate any pollution caused by its presence in the water. National Integrated 55 (2) A person who fails to comply with a notice issued under this section commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of not less than ten thousand dollars or more than one hundred thousand dollars or to imprisonment of not less than one year or more than five years or to both.
