Authority may determine safe yield of aquifers

The Authority shall have the power, (a) to determine the safe yield of any aquifer for the purpose of guiding determinations concerning the abstraction and use of water from the aquifer; (b) to impose requirements and restrictions with respect to artesian wells, for the of preventing or contamination of water, or loss of artesian pressure; and (c) to carry out programmes for the recharge of and for the purpose of paragraph (a) “safe yield” means the amount of water which may be abstracted from an aquifer at a rate which would not reduce the supply to an extent as would render such abstraction harmful to the aquifer itself or to the quality of the water and would not affect the economic feasibility of other abstractions.
