Conditions to be met prior to declaration and alteration of new protected area

(1) The declaration of a new protected area, whether under this Act or under any other Act, shall be preceded by– (a) an integrated assessment of the ecological, social and economic status of the area, National Protected Areas System [CAP. 215 21 potential impacts and contribution to the (b) the preparation of a preliminary management plan; and (c) any other study, plan or requirement deemed necessary by the Minister. (2) The alteration or reclassification of any protected area shall be preceded by the carrying out of requirements of sub- section (1)(a), (b) and (c). (3) The revocation of the declaration of any protected area shall be preceded by the carrying out of the requirements of sub- section (1)(a) and (c).
