Effect of declaration of parentage

(1) A declaration of parentage by a court shall have the effect of establishing a blood relationship of father and child or of mother and child and accordingly, the child shall be in the same legal position as a child actually born in lawful wedlock towards the father or the mother. (2) A declaration of parentage shall not, by itself, confer rights of custody of the child upon the father or mother.
