Section 44

Every public officer is in duty bound to bring to the notice of his superior officer without delay for notification to the Accounting Officer any loss, shortage, irregularity, fraud or theft affecting Government stores. The hiding of an irregularity or loss of any kind shall be the subject of severe disciplinary action against the officer(s) responsible.
