As regards revenue and other receipts for which his department or office is responsible, the Accounting Officer is held answerable to the Legislature through the Public Accounts Committee for ensuring that the approved system of assessment and collection is carried out, that the approved revenue registers are kept and promptly posted, that appropriate action is taken in cases of arrears, and that gross revenue receipts are duly paid in to the Treasury.
