Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, “Commissioner” means Commissioner of Police appointed under section 3; “Department” means the Police Department established under section 4; “Minister” means the Minister responsible for the Department; “National Police Training Academy” means the facility established by the Department to provide initial recruitment training; Police Act 7 “non-commissioned officer” means a police officer of the rank of sergeant or corporal; “police constable” or “constable” means a police officer under the rank of corporal and also means detective police constable or detective constable; “police officer” means a member of the Department; “prints” shall include finger print, thumb print, palm print and sole print impressions; CAP. 4. “Security Services Commission” means the Security Services Commission established under section 110C of the Constitution of Belize; “superior officer” means any police officer of or above the rank of inspector.
