Functions of the Director

(1) The Director may delegate any of his functions under this Act, other than the functions specified in section 9(3)(b), to a building inspector authorized by him in writing either generally or specifically. (1A) Before delegating his powers under sub-section (1), the Director shall satisfy him or herself of the ability, technical 16 qualifications and professional competence of a building officer to adequately deal with the matter before making any delegation hereunder. (2) Any person exercising any function assigned to a building officer by or under the provisions of this Act shall be deemed, for the purpose of the exercise of such function, to be the proper officer for the exercise of such function, if authorized for the purpose by the Director, and shall be deemed to have the powers of a building officer for the purpose of that function.
