Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, “Board” means the Coast Guard Board established under section 8; “Coast Guard” means the Coast Guard established under section 3; “Commandant” means the Commandant of the Coast Guard appointed under section 5; “maritime areas of Belize” means the internal waters, the territorial sea, and the exclusive economic zone within the meaning of the Maritime Areas Act; CAP. 11. “Minister” means the Minister for the time being with responsibility for Home Affairs; “other security forces” means6 (a) in respect of Belize, the Belize Police Department and the Belize Defence Force; and (b) in respect of any other country, the police and military forces of that country, including the coast guard authorities of that country, where applicable.
