Refreshment to jurors

(1) During such time as the jury in a criminal cause may be absent from the court for the purpose of considering its verdict, the judge presiding over the trial may authorise the Registrar to provide, at the public expense, such light refreshment as may seem to him necessary. (2) During the deliberation of the jury in any civil cause, similar refreshment may, with the approval of the judge, be provided at the expense of any juror.
