Provision of information to victims of trafficking in persons

(1) The Director of Public Prosecution shall inform a victim of the offence of trafficking in persons of the progress of the criminal court proceedings and the right to seek compensation. (2) The Director of Immigration and Nationality Services shall inform a victim of the offence of trafficking in persons of decisions for the return of the victim to his country of citizenship or lawful residence, and the procedures for seeking permanent residency status or citizenship in Belize, where the victim qualifies to apply for permanent residency or citizenship status under the Belize Nationality Act.
