Garrotting, etc

Every person who, with either of the intents mentioned in section 85 and by means of choking, suffocating or strangling, or by any other violence, or by means of any stupefying or overpowering drug, gas or other matter, renders or attempts to render a person unconscious or insensible or physically incapable of resistance, shall be liable to imprisonment for twenty years.
