Corrupt bargains or transactions

For the purpose of section 293, “corrupt bargain or transaction” includes any agreement for the giving or receipt by any person of any valuable consideration for nominating or appointing a person to an office, or for procuring, soliciting or recommending the nomination or appointment of a person to an office, or for resigning or procuring the resignation of an office, or for any promise, offer or endeavour to do any such act as hereinbefore in this section mentioned, and includes any agreement for paying to any person, or permitting any person to retain or receive, the whole or any part of the salary, fees or other remuneration or benefits of an office.
